Buying Some Piece Of Mind

When we bought our house we put enough money down that we didn’t have to carry mortgage insurance, you know the one that guarantees the bank in case we default on our mortgage. That has always been a needless expense for us, but necessary in these uncertain times. The one thing that I’m not sure we have is mortgage protection insurance. This is the one that protects us in case one of us pass away before the house is paid off. I don’t know if it’s cheaper to carry the insurance with the mortgage or to just increase our life insurance enough to cover both our future needs and the home payoff. With four kids can you imagine what would happen if something were to happen to my husband or I? The one left behind will have so much on their plate, that this is a huge thing to take care of. I have been worried recently about final expense insurance. If I go first my husband will have to worry about finding some help while he is at work. That can get expensive. If he were to go first I would need to find a job to support us all and still have a future that includes school and weddings. It’s a daunting thought. Hopefully with us taking care of this at our age, we can have some stress free times ahead of us.
