My Father In Law’s 64th Birthday!!

Well, there you have it! If you were to ever wonder what kind of cake you would get if you gave me about 3 hours notice…wonder no more! I had planned to make some sort of cake for my father in law, but hadn’t ever gotten the official plans from my mother in law. Until about 12 noon. Mind you–I didn’t have an egg in the house–and we had to leave at 4 pm to be at a Bulls players signing! So I sent the hubby out for eggs, and sat down and tried to figure out something quick, easy, fun and well–cool for a 64 year old man!

I bet you can’t tell from the cake what my father in laws name is, right? Well, in case you can’t…it’s Erwin! But when he was a teenager everyone thought he looked like Archie from the comic books (one I’d never seen before) and somehow his nickname stuck! It wasn’t until just a few years ago that I even learned that his name wasn’t Archie, although I should have had a clue when I wrote out our wedding invites–I’ll just claim “Dumb Bride” moment!

But honestly, for a 3 hour cake without the use of fondant…I think it turned out pretty ok!!
