Have you ever heard of “Candy Clay”? I have, but I have never thought of working with it, let alone creating it. I have to say, it was AWESOME!! I made the topper for the Cupcake of the Day tomorrow–so you will get to see my little creation then. But truly, you use the little Candy Melts and 1/3 Cup of Light Corn Syrup. In a double boiler you melt the candy melts stirring constantly until they are smooth and completely melted. Then remove it from the heat and add your corn syrup. Mix completely; turn out onto wax paper to cool to room temperature. It will harden as it cools. Store in air tight container (no refrigeration needed).
When you want to use it it’s a lot like fondant. You break it off little by little and knead until it’s workable. Thanks to the heat in your hands this doesn’t take too long–but if you get it too gooey you can set it aside to cool a bit or put it in the refrigerator for a moment. Then honestly, it’s yours to create with. It’s like Sculpey clay–only completely edible, and quite tasty!!
