Blue Princess Cake!!

I bought this cake pan for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. Everything in her world was Cinderella. But I found myself terribly intimidated by the entire thing. I have never taken cake decorating classes, and I had never worked with fondant. So…if you continue back a few years in this progression of pictures you will come across The Volcano Cake. This cake was made using the pan for the skirt of the doll. So it really made a “Boy” cake and a “Girl” cake. It’s a GREAT pan to have.
This past year that same daughter turned 5 and everything went from Cinderella–to anything Princess and PINK! We had a Princess Tea Party for her and some of her cousins and I decided that I really had to try to make this cake. The blue princess above was my first attempt ever at the cake and my first time using fondant. I say that only to illustrate the fact that although this could look difficult to the beginners among us–it really turned out to be one of the easiest cakes I’ve ever made!
